See the infographic below:<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14120\" data-cfsrc=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/diagram-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"414\"   style=\"display:none;visibility:hidden;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14120\" src=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/diagram-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"515\" height=\"414\"   \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">I have selected and analyzed 4 charts, all downloaded from Datamyne, and tried to give an explanation to the numbers I have extracted:<\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Imports by Origin Country<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Imports by Commodity<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Imports by Steam Ship Line<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Imports by Steam Ship Line \u2013 Country<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Imports by Origin Country:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14131\" data-cfsrc=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/table-long.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"445\" height=\"622\"   style=\"display:none;visibility:hidden;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14131\" src=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/table-long.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"445\" height=\"622\"   \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>China (along with Hong Kong) has lost almost over 750,000 TEUs in 2019 compared to 2018 (an 8% reduction), with a reduced market share from 46% of 2018 to 42% in 2019.<\/li>\n<li>Vietnam has increased its export volume to the U.S. 29%. Overall, when we consider all countries, MSC is still the biggest carrier for imports to the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14122\" data-cfsrc=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Graph1-A.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"719\"   style=\"display:none;visibility:hidden;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14122\" src=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Graph1-A.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"498\" height=\"719\"   \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">What is reported above about carriers\u2019 performances is represented below with the actual total numbers for the totality of imports (not only for China and Vietnam.)<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Asian carriers, Evergreen, Cosco, and OOCL, along with APL and ZIM, are the most exposed to this market disruption, considering the decrease in terms of TEUs or the loss of market share:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14126\" data-cfsrc=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Table1-A.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"513\" height=\"324\"   style=\"display:none;visibility:hidden;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14126\" src=\"https:\/\/073bddbe7aa062defd37fde3-cwzdvdpfea.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Table1-A.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"513\" height=\"324\"   \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><b>This type of analysis can lead us to few important considerations:<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The direct impact of the U.S.-China trade war is affecting heavily medium and small importers that are not prepared to diversify and find alternative sourcing other than China.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Southeast Asia has seen an impressive spike in terms of volume, but it is not even close to compensate the immense loss of volume share that China was exporting to the U.S.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certain commodities, for various reasons, have been affected more than others.
